Monica and I. Joker style. Friday night shannigans.
What an amazing friend Monica is. The first time we met was at a girls networking event called “Ladies Lounge.” Someone invited her, I knew some of the girls there and we just got to talking. I imagine I followed up first with her after as I’m prone to pick up the phone first, something about the whole inter-activity of the web has lessened my fear to reach out first. And we met up for drinks. Very first date like. And we clicked.
A good year later it occured to me that Monica hadn’t been to any other girls networking parties and I asked her why. She said she found what she was looking for. She didn’t want the whole “networky thing” and found a good friend in me and was happy.
If they say that certain conversations are bookmarks for our lives, than that conversation was certainly one of them. I think often of how sincerely moved and touched I was at her honesty. Her candid nature is one of the things I love most about her. She is this tough business woman, sharp, incredibly driven, and yet the most thoughtful and sweet friend.
Last summer, during a “Sloane Adventure” we stopped with our crew in Venice at The Whaler and Monica proceeded to meet her boyfriend, Greg, there. He’s standing just in the background of this picture and as I write this, I just think how happy I am for both of them. To find a great love in your life, especially in Los Angeles, is so hard, and they are such a great couple.
So sometimes a picture does say 1,000 words. Or just four, “I love you Monica!”
